Hi there, I’m Emilia Romano—mama, home cook, and the heart behind Tonight Plate.

Every night growing up, I would come home from school, drop my backpack, and ask the same question: “Mom, what’s for dinner?” She’d smile—always that same smile—and say, “We’ll figure it out.” And somehow, she always did. A little of this, a dash of that, and soon the house would fill with the smell of something wonderful bubbling on the stove. It wasn’t just food. It was magic. It was love.

I didn’t know then that I was learning something far more important than recipes—I was learning how to feed a family, how to create comfort from chaos, how to turn a tired Tuesday into something worth remembering.

Fast forward a couple decades, and here I am—juggling life as a wife, a mom to my sweet daughter Sofia, and a woman constantly asking herself, “What’s for dinner?” Some days I feel like I’m crushing it. Other days, I’m just grateful the broccoli isn’t burnt. But always, I come back to what my mom taught me: dinner doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to be made with heart.

That’s why I started Tonight Plate. This space isn’t about gourmet meals or picture-perfect plating. It’s about real food, made by real people, who are just trying to get something delicious on the table after a long day. It’s for those moments when your brain’s fried, your fridge is half empty, and takeout feels like giving up. I’ve been there. And I want to help.

Here, you’ll find quick recipes, cozy stories, and the kind of encouragement that feels like a friend nudging you along. You’ll also see glimpses of my life—me in my favorite red apron, Sofia giggling at the table, our messy, beautiful little dinner routine.

Whether you’re a beginner in the kitchen or just too busy to fuss over dinner, welcome. Pull up a chair. We’ll figure it out together.

Let’s make tonight’s plate simple, satisfying, and always made with love.
